Community input sought to update Cuyahoga County’s disaster mitigation plan

CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Cuyahoga County Office of Emergency Management is seeking public input to help update its policies for how to respond to natural or manmade disasters.

The All-Hazards Mitigation Plan serves as the blueprint for reducing property damage and saving lives after hazard events, such as tornadoes or floods, the county said in a news release Monday. The Federal Emergency Management Agency requires that it be updated every five years to maintain eligibility for certain grant programs.

The county is working with Michael Baker International and Burton Planning Services to update the plan, but community input is needed.

Members can review the plan and submit comments through May 2.

A draft of the plan can be found online here. Print copies are available at several Cleveland Public Library branches, including Fairview Park, Independence, Olmsted Falls, Parma-Snow, Solon, South Euclid, Cleveland Heights-Lee, and City of Cleveland-main.
